The cultural event that I attended was the Cincinnati festival of lights. The location was at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical garden where there were hundreds of exotic animals. The Cincinnati Zoo is ranked one of the top zoos in America, because of all the exotic animals, species, and several varieties of plants. The festival of lights is there are over a hundred lights, and the zoo is decorated in various colors and it’s well lit up, it’s best to attend the festival at night. At the festival of lights they have a schedule of various events that take place, when my family and I attended we watched polar express in 4d; Winter Wonders with puppets, we all enjoyed our selves. There were several other activities that took place that we attended those were just two of my favorite. I believe that going to the zoo was a cultural event because, seeing the animals and watching how they live was just very different. Compared to the culture of humans and the way most live, humans aren’t suppose to live outside, were suppose to be sheltered, compared to animals most are born outside raised outside and very exotic, they can survive in the outdoors. Most animals have to be trained if you want to take them into human care. Although it is not common to train exotic animals unless they are coming within any contact of humans, there way of living is usually endangered. That’s why when one sees a human in any type of contact most animals have previously been trained. When looking at how this is a cultural event I see that it is a drastic difference between the two humans and animals. The way the live, eat and survive. Overall I enjoyed the festival of lights and I would go back again.

That sounds like a very interesting experience. I have been to the Cincinnati Zoo myself and know it is a very cool place. The animals, like you said, are very exotic and different than you would find in the Louisville Zoo, which is closer to my home. Being where you went must have been an awesome experience.

I’ve been to the Cincinnati Zoo before! It’s been ages (probably since 5th grade). I do remember it being really fun. I would love to see it all decked out in lights, it must have been awesome.

This sounds really cool. I have been to Cincinnati twice but only for Kings Island. I think this would be a fun thing to go to! Maybe one day I will!

I’ve been to this festival before and it is one that you must go in person to to really feel and see just how great and beautiful the environment is on that special night. If you don’t go you oare truly missing out on a wonderous night. The animals though enhance the festival. Its cool seeing the animals under the strung up lights and such and moving and eyeing all the new strangers to its home.

This sounds like a very interesting place to go. I havent been to a zoo in like years and I really enjoy things like aquariums and such. I would love to go to this festival and see the incorporation of lights and animal habitats to make one great night.

The Festival of Lights sounds like the Southern Lights that takes place at the Kentucky Horse Park here in Lexington. I always enjoy going to the Southern Lights because it is something I’ve done since I was a little girl and I always find it fun to celebrate the Christmas spirit! The Cincinnatti Zoo’s Festival of Lights sounds really fun and like something I would enjoy doing.

Hey, your piece has made me interested in the Festival of Lights. The fact that i live in louisville and have never been is kind of depressingto me. It seems like everyone has been to the Cinci zoo, i havent.

I have also gone to the festival many times. It is always a fun time due to all of the fun and exciting activites. I bet the movie in 4d would have been great. I liked when you described the relation between humans and animals.

This was a very intriguing piece. I have never been to the zoo in Cinicinnati, but after reading this it seems really interesting. Animals really do live completely different lives than humans—I thought it was really neat that you noticed the difference in our lifestyles.

I went to the Festival of Lights last year with my family and it was pretty fun. But i’ve been to the zoo many times. My girlfriend loves it and has a pass so i get in free.
I think it is a great experience and everyone should go to the zoo at some point in their life.
